What is the best smartphone size?

Smartphones have been increasing in size since their invention, and just two years ago, a Galaxy S3 size of 4.8 inches seemed to be the standard, even borderline too big. Now we are looking at smartphone sizes ranging as a standard from 5.1 to 6.4 inches. Are smartphones getting too big? In this week’s poll, we ask you, what is the perfect smartphone size?

2014 is the year of the phablet, with smartphones just getting bigger with every release. We recently discussed whether large smartphones are killing small tablets. Just take a look at the  LG G3 (5.5 inches) and Galaxy S5 (5.1 inches) which are huge in comparisons to flagships from one to two years ago, and don’t get me started about the Oppo N1 (5.9 inches) and Xperia Z Ultra (6.4 inches).
Do consumers really want a big plastic or metal thing stuck to the side of their face? For video watching, playing games and surfing the web, sure these sizes are great, but when is too much too much? A new smartphone, called the Galaxy F, also known as Galaxy Alpha, is said to be the same size as the Galaxy S3, but look like a Galaxy S5 and include a metal frame. This is totally unheard of for Samsung, but it seems that the company is positioning themselves to better compete against the iPhone 6, whenever Apple decides to launch it.

Perhaps this is an extreme comparison, but people really were happy with such small phones back in the day.

What do you think is the best size for smartphones? Are you happy with the mini format of flagships, like the Galaxy S5 mini at 4.5 inches, or ‘standard’ sizes like the HTC One (M8) at 5 inches, or bigger phablets like the Galaxy Note 3 at 5.7 inches? Let us know your stance on this topic.
